A Message About Joint Health from Tanner

by Tanner, with help from EventBarkers.com
Mom and Miss Paris have been very busy finding fun new ways to share the message of healthy treating with Zuke's. As I age, my hips may be prone to trouble. It's a problem that plagues many larger dogs, like Retrievers. Mom does all she can to assure that I don't have problems, like giving me Hip Action treats that supplement my diet with extra Glucosamine, Chondroitin and egg shell membrane. Sounds like medicine, right? Wrong!
Swimming: Also Good for Hips and Health
Hip Action Treats by Zuke's are super tasty. Even Oliver, whose hips are teensie weensie, loves to sneak a
nibble of my Hip Action treats. Mom looked up info on Papillons and learned that they are also prone to knee problems like lux patella, giving her yet another reason to buy Hip Action for us. Way to go Oliver!

My advice is to learn more about your dog's potential for hip or joint problems based on his breed or his mix. Ask your veterinarian for advice. And serve Zuke's Hip Action treats regularly as a healthy preventative. Your dog will love you for it!

Blogging Saves My Knees Too :)

Now we hope you'll enjoy our brief message about senior dogs and Hip Action Treats:

In our work with Event Barkers, All Things Dog Blog and DogTipper.com are helping promote Zuke's healthy dog treats. Join us on Friday, November 29 for the #BarkFriday #FueltheLove Twitter Party at 12 PM ET to have a chance at winning 10 great prize packages that each will include at least $100 in Zuke's treats.

The Cats are Coming! The Cats are Coming!

Patches Arrives with News

So apparently Mom has gone and done it again. It's mutiny, I tell you. This time she has given Patches permission to promote a cat litter Twitter Party on my blog. Has she read the title of this blog? I just don't understand these two.

Worse yet, since she has no blogging skills whatsoever, Mom has instructed me to be her scribe. I'm just appalled at the idea, but let's get it over with. Here's the deal:

Mom, Patches and Miss Paris' crew at CatTipper.com are collaborating with Swheat Scoop on a #LitterChat Twitter Party. It's that super Eco-friendly, naturally-processed kitty litter that Mom loves because it is not so dusty when she fills the box. I guess Mom sneezes less when she uses it so that's one benefit. She says there are more, and we should watch for her posts about the green features of Swheat Scoop.

For now, we'll just stick to the important journalistic stuff: who, what, where, when, why and how. Most of it
is on the badge you see here. As usual, Mom's badge did not cover important stuff like why and how, so I've got a few more details to share before I hit the publish button and tell Patches to skedaddle.

Just like the cool dog products we do Twitter Parties for, apparently this kitty litter is widely used and popular with the felines and their families. So Mom and Paris plan to share that news along with tips on kittybox issues.

I have a kittybox issue; I'm not allowed to go near it. That's definitely an issue! To me that kitty box looks like a salad bar, full of little protein nuggets. I really don't quite understand Mom's logic, but she tells me that that's Patches space and I must respect it.

I have to admit that she rewards me well when I do what she asks. Anytime she sees me watching Patches in her private space without entering, Mom gives me a super yummy Natural Balance treat. We have a nice assortment here since they sponsor All Things Dog Blog. Partnerships have their perks, but I digress.

Mom says I'm supposed to invite you all to join us for the party where you'll get lots of litterbox tips (Will she share how I can get to it without being scolded?), info about Swheat Scoop and its benefits, and some really hot prizes.  She hasn't told me what the prizes are yet, but I peeked so I'm going to spill.

Mom, Paris and the Swheat Scoop folks have collected some pretty slick stuff, if you're a cat, that is. They've got a fancy-schmancy scratching tower for bird watching, litterbox organizers and accessories, some expensive, high class litter boxes for picky kitties, and most important, they've got a ton of Swheat Scoop cat litter.

Come a little closer so I can whisper. They're actually going to give away a year's worth of kitty litter to the Grand Prize winner, and that winner gets more great cat stuff. There's even toys!

Oh oh! Tanner heard me say that out loud. He's coming, so I'm hitting the publish button and hiding. He'll be looking all over for the toys.

Don't forget you have to sign up at the RSVP form at All Things Dog Blog. I don't really get that whole RSVP thing. Hopefully you do. Good luck with your cat party; I hope I can get out of it. I'm really not into Tweeting about kitty products, ya know?

Oops, one last responsibility. Patches wants you to help her share the news by clicking this Tweet:

Nature's Logic Review by Oliver

by Oliver
© Carrie Boyko
Save Some for Me, Tanner

We've been busily dropping photo hints that this review was coming, so I guess you know our noses have already done a pretty good job of checking out the goods. Truth be told, Tanner ate the biggest portion, but to be honest, he always does. He's a whopper at 70 lbs and me, Oliver, I'm a diminutive 10-pounder. Somehow that always makes me sound like a lower life form, but mom assures me I'm still plenty important.. As a matter of fact, I'm so important that I got this writing assignment. Take that, Tanner! BOL!

courtesy Nature's Logic
I had to hold Tanner's paw and tell him I promised to use his thoughts in this review, or he was most certainly going to whimper like a puppy. So my disclaimer goes something like this: "All information in the following review is a combination of material gleaned from Nature's Logic, Tanner, Oliver, and even a few tidbits from Patches." Does that work? I thought it sounded real professional.
Just to be clear, I'm going to give you some of the official info from Nature's Logic. This is the stuff mom likes to read. Like, for example, their food does not contain any synthetic nutrients. That's just fancy words for vitamins...you know, the stuff that makes us healthy, energetic and shiny. Nature's Logic makes their whole line of foods from 'whole foods' instead of stuff that was made in a chemistry lab. I though a lab was a dog, but my girl, Toni, tells me that it's a place where fake vitamins can be made--yuck! I much prefer real carrots and apples to fake ones, thank you very much!

Tanner seems real impressed with the variety of different aminal (did I spell that right?) meats available in Nature's Logic foods. He tells me they make pet food using chicken, beef, venison, rabbit, salmon, lamb, duck, and sardines. Did I get them all Tanner? That's quite a list, huh?  I'm going to have to go look up venison and sardines....not sure what they are. Can you help?

courtesy Nature's Logic
Apparently since the Nature's Logic food has so much great protein, they decided to leave out some of the carbs that have less nutritional value. That was a mouthful I got from Patches. She hates carbs and cats don't eat much other than protein, so I understand her point of view.

Me, well, I can take an occasional dog treat and enjoy the carbs included, but Patches tells me that Nature's Logic leaves out rice, soy, wheat, potato and tapioca. They explain this and some other stuff about our diets here.

Sounds like the Nature's Logic folks got everything in their food that I like and even made Patches happy. That's no easy feat. What more can we say?

Guarding the Goods for #BarktoSchool
Oh, yeah, I know what. Mom is helping the Nature's Logic folks get the word out with some help from Tiki and Irie's mom, Paris. We're throwing a Twitter Party called #BarktoSchool. You can join us by RSVPing at the link.

Mom plans all sorts of training tips and nutrition info that's good for pet owners like you to know. She's also planning to share some info on a writer friend, Peggy Frezon, who has a bunch of books and a neato blog, Peggy's Pet Place.  And another cool part is that she's also giving away a whole bunch of Nature's Logic, Walk in Sync leashes, great dog books, shampoo, training treats and more. Mom says there will be over $1000 in gifts for pets and their families. That's a lotta kibble!

Anyways, if you want to join us for the party, you'll have to head on over the RSVP page and sign up. I guess if your pawprint is not on the list, you can't win a prize, so it's pretty important. I'll be there Tweeting too, so please say hello. My Twitter handle is @5MintuesforFido. See you then!

Soggy Doggy Silliness

by Tanner
© AllThingsDogBlog.com
I WAS Napping :(
This is my housemate, Oliver. You may know him already. He's the diminutive member of this household who thinks we should be all about him. Even when it comes to review products, he sometimes takes over, like today. Here's a snapshot of him annoyed with mom for interrupting his nap. Seriously?!

Now let's look at this from a more useful point of view--mine. I could have used a Super Shammy to dry off from my daily swims and Fetch training. Well, that's what Mom calls it, but technically, it's just a game. After all, I've mastered Fetching 5 toys and lining them up at the back door for her. What more can she possibly want from me?

After she hoses me down and rubs some conditioner on my coat, we dry off and I like to go inside and finish drying on the living room carpet. I really don't see what's wrong with that. After all, it's basically the same color as I am and I'm already all clean after my swim. I'm hardly a dirty dog except for the occasional rainy day when I decide to chase a Raccoon or Opossum around the yard. Then I get to have my paws hosed off really, really well. We're talking pedicure stuff here. I don't understand all the fuss about a little dirt.

Tanner Wants One of These :)

Anyway, Mom's giving away these Soggy Doggy Doormats and Super Shammies at All Things Dog Blog. If your pup needs a napping spot like Oliver, or a better way to dry off, you may want to check it out. Anybody got an idea how I can enter to win a Soggy Doggy Super Shammy? I love being toweled off. Did I mention that I love playing 'Dry the Doggy?' Ahhhhhh! It feels sooooo good.

Pet Travel Feeding Solutions

by Oliver
© AllThingsDogBlog.com
Tanner Shows Off the TRAVEL-tainer

First off, I didn't make up that title. Tanner was in charge of titles today, and pictures too. He picked one of himself :(   It's really, really boring, but the post is bunches better; I wrote the post :). Keep reading...When this news flash came by me I just had to scoop it up before Tanner got wind of it. The new TRAVEL-tainer that Mom has sitting on her desk right now has bowls that hold a whole quart of food. Yeow! I'm loving that idea since I get way less than that at my usual chowtime.

I have not quite figured it all out. I know Tanner is bigger than me. But I do weigh 10 lbs. That seems like enough to be fed a reasonable ration, but no, I get tiny nibbles of kibble in my diminutive bowl. And then Mom has the gall to call me her pocket pup. Doesn't she know that makes me feel so, so, small? :(

So I'm going to figure out a way to hide that TRAVEL-tainer and make sure it's mine. When we go on our next camping trip I've got dibs on it. Done! Tanner will get to eat out of the grocery store plastic bowl that's barely big enough for a mouse. So there!

FYI, if you want to nab one of these cool travel containers, you need to be at #Gamma2Fresh, Mom's Twitter Party on June 10. She's hosting for the Gamma2 company along with Paris, her Event Barkers buddy. They apparently have a whole pile of Gamma2 food containers to give away, but I've yet to figure out where she's hiding them. Maybe I'll go check the garage. Wish me luck. See you on June 10. I'll be tweeting @5MinutesforFido. Go RSVP right now so you can get in on the prizes.

My bad! I should tell you about the extra chances to win. Besides the RSVP drawing, you can PreTweet to win, and there's a Rafflecopter thingy you can enter on too. Good luck with that; I'm not too sure if it will take off flying or what. Let me know if you figure it out.

Stale Kibble? Mom Has Solutions!

by Oliver

Mom is back in Twitter Party mode and boy is she going great guns. Between her and her partner, Tiki and Irie's mom, they have got their paws full. Or is that hands? I can't quite keep that straight, but I call them paws.
© AllThingsDogBlog.com
These are Paws, Right?

With tonight's Twitter Party looming large, mom is also busy getting ready for another one: #Gamma2Fresh. These are the folks that make patented airtight pet food storage. I like that. And their YouTube video is so much fun to watch, you've just got to take a minute and enjoy it. I was dancing to their beat!

Tanner and I pow wowed with Xena, Patches, and Robby one time way back in the day, and we decided that we don't like our food going rancid or stale, and we even don't like it to get bugs in it. That may sound strange to you, since I love chasing bugs outside and am a big fan of a good earthworm for a snack, but I really don't like things crawling around in my dinner. After all, it is MY dinner!

So join us for the #Gamma2Fresh Twitter Party so you can learn more about preventing these terrible, awful, no good, very bad problems. Mom and Paris will be giving away pet food containers every 5 minutes, plus you can win by Tweeting, RSVPing and entering the Rafflecopter. I'm not exactly sure what that is, but it sounds like fun. Good luck!

Oliver Investigates Petstages' Mini Nesting Mat

by Oliver

This is my new soothing bedding. It's called a Petstages Mini Nesting Mat and it's made especially for dogs like me to root around in, digging and rearranging. I love redecorating my bedding, and this is the perfect thing for that.  Mom has written a review over at All Things Dog Blog, but this is my personal, private show...just for you.

I guess I should tell you that she's giving some of these neato cushy blanket thingys away over at her blog. I just have cool pictures. That's okay too, right? Hope you win!

If you don't get to be one of the winners, you can order your Mini Nesting Mat through the Amazon ad at this link or on All Things Dog Blog. The product is also being sold through many pet specialty stores, so be sure to ask for it by name. Happy Nesting!

Full disclosure: All Things Dog Blog has been provided with a free sample to do this review of the Petstages Mini Nesting Mat. We have not been paid to provide our opinion of this product, and the opinion provided is our own.

Doing Organix Dishes is Such Fun

by Oliver
(c) Carrie Boyko
I Got Dish Duty Today. Yay!

One of our favorite things to do is dishes. After chow time is over, Tanner washes out my dish and I wash out his. I guess I get the best deal here, huh?

Some trainers would not advise allowing this. But our mom taught us about food aggression when we were just pups and we'll have none of that. We share nicely. And that's a good thing, because I'd probably lose everytime. Tanner outweighs me by 7 times. Now that would not be a fair fight!

Back to business. Mom has announced the winners of the 12 bags of Organix dog food over at All Things Dog Blog. She still has the food hidden, so we have not been able to raid the bags :(  Did you win?

A Great Day: Chow Now and a Busy Bone Later

(c) Carrie Boyko
Time to Lose the Sign, Mom!
Busy Bones are in high gear today over at All Things Dog Blog. They are my all time favorite treat. It's sort of like a really slow, enjoyable snack that I can savor and lick out every drop of flavor.

What?! You've never had a Busy Bone? Oh dear. Oh my. You've got to click right over to mom's post on how to make Organix Busy Bones. We'll be eating ours this afternoon. Pics later. Enjoy!

Organix Food Inside
Organic Sweet Potato Topping

These Busy Bones are filled with Organix canned food and a layer of kibble for crunch. Then mom tops them off with organic mashed sweet potatoes for extra fiber and beta carotene. We just love them.

I Can Finally Say It: I Love Organix!

by Tanner
© Carrie Boyko
♫ Proud to be an Organix Eater
Where at Least it's Free of Toxins

Okay, I guess that's sort of corny. But it has been killing me to keep my snout snapped through this secretive business. I'm glad the cat's out of the bag!

So, did you read The Big Reveal AND the Giveaway post? I can't believe mom is giving away 12 bags of food. I'm trying to find it here, but she has hidden it really well. A little help? Shouldn't I get something for all my modeling efforts?

Hold the dog whistle. I just remembered that mom made a new recipe yesterday--dog cookies out of Organix crumbs from the bottom of the bag. Boy, did they smell and taste good. She'll be sharing that recipe soon, so you can all save money on treats, while using up the leftover crumbs from each bag of food. Cool, huh?

We should hop into the Pet Blogger hop to help get the word out. Enjoy!

Can You Guess What's in My Dish?

by Oliver
First rule is there is no peeking in my dish. Got it?

Here are a few hints to help you:
  • My food is certified organic by the USDA Organic Program.
  • It's made with organic chicken, brown rice and oats, so there's no icky stuff hiding in it. No corn and no wheat.
  • The maker adds lots of fruits and veggies to the recipe--yum!
  • No artificial ingredients means Tanner and I get real food that includes natural forms of fiber and vitamins and healthy fats from fish, so our coats are healthy and shiny.

One more guessing game....did you have any idea what the problem was with the photo on the Surprise Announcement Page? Correct guesses get you an entry into a surprise giveaway on Saturday. I'll give you a little tip; check out my bow tie and Tanner's. Is there something wrong? Good luck! You have until tomorrow afternoon at 5 PM to enter your guess at All Things Dog Blog's Pet Food Pantry post.

Does it Get Any More Embarrassing that This?

 by Oliver

© Carrie Boyko
No! I Will Not Face the Camera.
I've had just about as much of this Potty Park business as I can take. It's just downright embarrassing to have a camera in my face while I ....you know.

Today mom has reviewed this indoor Potty Park over at All Things Dog Blog. You can see it in the picture. It's pretty slick; looks and feels like real grass and works just like my back yard.

She says she's giving one away to somebody who is lucky. Sounds weird to me to be lucky to get a potty, but whatever! Check out her post if you want to enter. The rules are there and soon, I hope there will be no more photos of me doing...you know. Whew!

Tanner Gets the Weekly Preview!

by Tanner
© Carrie Boyko
Tanner Snuggles with his Treat Ball
Having a cut on your paw pad is not such a great thing. It really isn't that bad, but mom will absolutely not take me to the dog park or even let me swim. It's a super bummer.

I get to do stuff like chase a treat ball around the house, take walks on the sidewalk when it's cool outside, and do photo sessions for the blog. I actually like the photo sessions. I get treats for doing a good job.

Since I'm disabled, mom says I get to do this week's All Things Dog Blog Weekly Preview. She's gonna put Oliver on some other task like guarding the house or.....well, that's just nonsense!

Here's what's coming up this week over at All Things Dog Blog:

  • Pup Profiles returns with a special reader's pup
  • Mom's series on healthy dog food and the investigation into organic food continues, with 4 more posts this week. What do you suppose she has up her sleeve? Sounds like a big announcement or a giveaway. Oh, right. I do have a secret to keep. Oops.
  • Product reviews are big fun this week--food and the opposite of food. LOL, Oliver had to do the dog potty review! I have to admit though, he got the hang of it really well. Good job Oliver!
  • Our trainer has some suggestions for a Border Collie owner whose pup is in need of extra workouts. I think that's true of every Border Collie I ever met at agility--hyperactive and fast as lightening on the agility course!
  • Did I forget the giveaway?  Toys, food, and a dog potty are all up for grabs. You can check mom's sidebar for links to the giveaway posts. Good luck!
  • Finally, our Adoptable Pets Tour of States will take us across the ocean to Hawaii. I'm curious what sort of pets we'll find there. Do you suppose the dogs wear Hawaiin leis instead of bandanas?
  • Next week? Money saving mania begins. Mom plans to show you how to make living organic a possibility, even on a tight budget. She's got all sorts of recipes and a guest post coming from her 20something Saver buddy, Lizzi. Don't miss these great tips for keeping your pet food budget in check.
  • And Dr. Pat will be back next week...lots going on, huh?
I think I got a bit carried away with some peekaboos at the following week, but that's okay. Hope to see you all real soon.

Rolling out the Beginning of "Unleashing Our Secret"

by Tanner
© Carrie Boyko
Sorry! It's Still a Secret
Over at All Things Dog Blog, our mom has started a revolution. Well, maybe that's a bit exaggerated, but she's out to share some important info on feeding us pups without any unseen ingredients that leave gunk in our livers, while overworking them.

A few years back when mom and our Xena both got cancer, we all went on an organic 'diet'. Sounds awful, but actually it's very tasty. We'll be revealing our fave real soon, so stay tuned. And don't miss mom's introductory info that starts today at the Pet Blogger hop. I think she's giving away a couple of surprise gifts by having you play a guessing game. Check it out here!

Respect our Cat? Who's She Kidding?

by Tanner
(c) Carrie Boyko
No More Cat Litter Raids?

This whole Be the Pack Leader business is just getting out of hand. Mom trained Oliver and I to stay out of the cat's 'room', and now the investigative fun has ended. What good is a pup's curiosity if he can't use it?

The closest I can get is about 4 feet from the new Litter-Robot, and it has this tiny opening, so I can hardly get my head in to make a steal, even if I am lucky enough to get into the room when Mom's not looking. On top of that, she had to go and put this nice-smelling litter in it that's made out of corn. She says it's the World's Best Cat Litter. It sure does smell better than the old-fashioned clay stuff. Any ideas on how I can get the goods?

I'm gong to have to find a way to stop mom from reading training manuals and taking training classes. I just want to visit the dog park, eat and swim. Okay, so I do want a fetch game in there somewhere too.  But respecting the cat is way too much to ask.

Well trained dogs unite; we need a plan!

Mom is conspiring with the cat litter company and the Litter-Robot folks to give away prizes. That means more owners will be trying to train their dogs to respect their cats. You guys better get on board and let's come up with a plan, before too many more folks enter her drawing at All Things Dog Blog. Leave your comments here and we'll work on it.
High Five from Tanner!

Dog Embarrassments and Natural Solutions

by Xena
It's sorta embarrassing to think that there is some dog out there with diarrhea. Whenever I have that problem, I find a private place way out behind a bush to take care of matters without onlookers watching.

Dr. Pat seems to have lots of new ideas for fixing this little predicament; she wrote about them at All Things Dog Blog today.

Apparently, Jagger is like Oliver. He likes to eat whatever unsavory things he finds. Oliver's favorite outdoor treat is dried worms that didn't make it across the sidewalk in the hot, Florida sun. Yuck!

Not me, I'll stick to my organic kibble, thank you very much. Good luck, Dr. Pat. Hope Jagger feels better soon.
